Slough School Sport Network Young Ambassador Conference

You are here:

On Wednesday 9th November two of our Year 12 Sixth Form students, Tariq Salum and Tapuwa Matambanadzo, attended a training conference for Young Ambassadors, organised by the Slough School Sport Network for Sixth Form students with leadership potential and the aptitude to be positive role models for younger children.

The conference opened with an inspirational address from GB sprinter Rion Pierre, followed by a full and varied programme from 12.00 - 5.00pm consisting of different workshops including sessions on positive communication skills, teamwork and leadership, constructing a quality CV and preparing for higher education, training, and employment.

This conference was undoubtedly a hugely valuable and positive experience for all the students that attended due to the quality and professionalism of day, facilitated by the Slough School Sport Network, Create Development, and Lorna Catling, External Affairs Manager for Mars UK.

Tariq and Tapuwa will now be working with Mr Shuttle back at Wexham to put their learning and leadership into practice by planning and delivering their own training sessions for some of our younger students, focussing on the importance of positive communication in all aspects of school life.
